Provincial Forest Envirothon 2019

Posted on: November 5th, 2019 by Andrew MacDougald

The Provincial Forest Envirothon is part of the international education which attracts Island high school students who are interested in the environment. Students explore options and issues in various natural resource sciences. Teams participate in field tests on the four core subjects like species identification, soil profiles, measuring forest products, identifying wildlife habitats and much more. Students are given a challenge relating to real world environmental issues. Teams must develop ideas and strategies on how to deal with the issues in an effective, efficient and cost effective manner and then as a group, present their recommendations to a panel of experts.   11 teams from 9 different schools from PEI participated in 2019 PEI Provincial Forest Envirothon Competition at Brookvale Nordic Center and Camp Keir. Colonel Gray team included Vee Chatterjee, Riddhima Upreti, Destiny Fraser, Aiyana Pritchard and Lillian MacIsaac.
