  • Terry Fox 40th Anniversary Run Meeting, today at 11:40 in room 139.

Notes:

  • Wednesday, September 30th is Orange Shirt Day, in recognition of survivors of residential schools.  Wear your orange shirt in support of remembrance and reconciliation.
  • The Colonel Gray Terry Fox Run is this Friday at 2:20. Please bring “Two Toonies for Terry” to your Block “C” teacher and participate.   There will be Terry Fox Trivia all week. Come to Student Services with your answers. The person who answers all questions correctly gets a t-shirt. Today’s Question is: What was the name of Terry’s Marathon and how much has it raised approximately worldwide as of 2020?
  • Hey Colonels! Are you interested in school leadership? Student council might just be the place for you to make a difference. We are currently recruiting new executive members, especially students in grades 10 & 11. Fill out an application form (found on the student council office door – by the cafeteria) and submit it to Mrs. Charlton in Room 214 by the end of the day on Thursday, October 1st.
  • Any students who are interested in writing the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge on October 29th must register with Mr. MacDougald by October 1st.
  • Anyone who has ordered lunch from the PEI Healthy School Food Program please look for Mrs. Beamish in the cafeteria from 11:40-12:00 to pick up your lunch. To place your orders, go to the website at www.peischoolfood.ca, ordering will reopen on October 2 -9 for the Oct 12-23 meal period. Please see Mrs. Beamish if you have any questions.

Student Services:

  • The Workers Compensation Board is seeking two Gr. 11 or 12 students for its Occupational Health and Safety Leadership Program at our school. Students who are selected and complete all program requirements will receive $500 at the end of the school year. For more information, go the WCB website, click on the hard hat, and look for the OHS Leadership button. Applications are due October 9th, so grab a friend and apply today!

  • “A” Men’s Soccer: Host Rural today at 5:00pm.

  • Womens Volleyball Tryouts: Grade 10 “AAA” @ 3:30 and Grade 11 & 12 @ 5:00pm.  
  • Men’s Volleyball Tryouts : 5:00pm.

Meetings:

  • There will be a meeting today for all people who wish to run for a KEY Club executive position. The meeting is at 11:40 am in room 140. Only attend if you wish to run for a position on the executive.

  • Women’s “AAA” Soccer- Game @ Montague, 4:30pm Teachers, please excuse athletes from classes at 2:45pm. Players are responsible for any and all class material missed.
  • Men’s “AAA” Soccer – Game @ Rural, 4:30pm
  • Men’s “A” Soccer – Home game vs. L’Ecole François Buote, 4:30pm, Colonel Gray.
  • Saturday: Men’s “A” Soccer- Practice 12:00pm, Colonel Gray.
  • Reminder to athletes that contracts must be signed and returned before they will be eligible to play.
  • This year there will be two “AAA” women’s volleyball teams. Tryouts will start Monday, September 28th in the gym. Grade tens are asked to attend the 3:30 tryout and grade eleven and twelves are asked to attend the 5:00 tryout. If you have any questions, you can see Ms.Beck in room 112 in the library.
  • Anyone interested in running cross country this fall, see Mr. Peterson in Student Services.

  • Anyone who missed out on attending key club due to capacity issues is welcome to attend a make up meeting in Mrs. Lee’s classroom, room 140, today at 11:50.
  • Important “Terry Fox 40th Anniversary Run Meeting” today at 11:40 in room 139.  This is the first meeting, we will be needing a lot of help this year so please come and help out!

Athletics:

  • Women’s Field Hockey: Team roster is posted in the gym, first game Monday against the Rural at 4:40pm Cornwall Turf.  
  • The Final selections for both the Men’s A and Women’s “AAA” soccer teams are now posted in the Gym.
  • Men’s “AAA” Soccer: Practice will be today at 3:30pm at Colonel Gray.
  • Women’s “AAA” Soccer: Please see Mr. Cheverie at noon today to pick up your Player Contracts.
  • Colonel Gray girls volleyball team is hosting workout sessions outside for any girls who might be thinking about trying out for volleyball! These workouts are not mandatory! We are meeting in the gym everyday after school, workout times will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday outside on the field! Everyone who is interested in trying out for women’s volleyball is more than welcome to come out!”

Meetings:

  • Did you know that KEY Club is the world’s largest student-led service club? We are holding our first meeting in the lecture theatre on Monday at lunch. Meeting time is 11:50 am. Capacity is limited. Bring your lunch. Leadership opportunities available.

Notes:

  • Students that normally travel home on Bus 18 Alan Jackson will be going home on Bus 41 Dennis Bingley.  This bus may be a few minutes late arriving.
  • Attention all students:  Student pictures will take place next week, on September 23 and 24. All students must have their pictures taken in order to update your file but also be receive a student ID card.

  • THIS YEAR, students can only go to your locker: [1] BEFORE first AM class [2] Lunch [3] End of the day. We need to keep the flow of traffic at break time from one class to the next, without stopping at lockers. This has been great thus far. THANKS for all that you are doing!!

The work entails 3-4 meetings this year, all in the evening, to discuss topics related to education. If you are interested, please leave a note in the main office with your name, grade level and your email address and  Ms. Lecours will touch base with you.  All interested students should have their names in by tomorrow. Anyone that has ordered lunch from the healthy Lunch Program, it will be delivered each day at 11:40 to the cafeteria.
  • School Photos: Attention students, Picture Day is coming Wednesday, September 23rd and Thursday, September 24th.
    After Picture Day, you can order pictures on mylifetouch.ca using your Portrait ID and Access Code which can be found on your Picture Day order form.
  • Library Monitor: Those students interested in volunteering at the library are invited to a meeting Thurs at 12 in Library Room 112 . The hours you work can be used towards the Community service  bursary.

  • Women’s Field Hockey: Tryouts, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 3:30-5:00 @ CG  
  • Men’s A Soccer:  Begins today, 5:30-7:30pm on the Colonel Gray field.
  • Men’s AAA Soccer: First cuts have been posted in the gym. Final try-out will be Wednesday, 3:30pm at Colonel Gray.
  • Women’s AAA Soccer: Nest session is Wednesday, 3:30pm at Co-op field.
  • Wellness room will be open starting today 3:30-4:30 Sign up sheet on Ms. Tanton’s door.  ROOM FOR 12 PEOPLE.
