Healthy School Food Project

Morgan Palmer is working with the Public Schools Branch to develop and pilot a provincial school food strategy. As part of this project three School Food Think Tanks were held across P.E.I. this fall.

The following three video links contain content on this School Food Environment Initiative. Nine schools are prepared to pilot a new school food program for PEI.

Affecting Change in PEI’s Education System

Resolutions are developed around issues that will affect positive change in our school system for all students’ benefit. Your Home and School’s resolutions will be considered at the 66th Annual Meeting & Convention on April 13, 2019. Assistance with writing resolutions is available. Deadline to submit resolutions: Jan. 31, 2019.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week | Extra Mile Award

Start planning in the New Year to celebrate school staff during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week, February 11 – 15, 2019. Home and schools are encouraged to find ways of saying thank you to staff members for their contributions to the lives of our children and youth. Nominate a school staff person (i.e. teacher, education / admin assistant, custodian) for the

PEI Home and School Federation’s Extra Mile Award. Submission deadline is: Jan. 11, 2019. More details are online at:

Annual Reports

Presidents of Home and School Associations are asked to submit an annual 1-2 page report outlining your Home and School Association’s activities for the 2018-2019 school year. Reports will be inserted into the Federation’s 2018-2019 Annual Book of Reports. If you need assistance, call 620-3186 | 1-800-916-0664 | peihsf@edu.pe.ca. Please submit your report to the Federation office by Feb. 28th.

Athletics:

  • Congratulations to the “AAA” girls basketball team who won the Aidan Harrington Memorial tournament this weekend in Kensington.

  • The Confederation Centre of the Arts is looking for you for their Young Company 2019. Check the poster across from the main office for more details.
  • Once again we are looking for an artistic student to create original artwork for the musical poster. The top submission will be chosen, and the deadline is February 7. Any interested student should go see Mr. Weale in the Art Room for more information.

  • Today at lunch, Parks Canada student recruitment officers will be set up outside Student Services with information and application forms for Parks Canada summer jobs for students.
Teachers – today is Supervision Day 2.

  • Attention cast and chorus of We Will Rock You the Musical! The information meeting scheduled for today is postponed until Monday at 11:50 in the Lecture Theater. Bring your lunch. There are also important announcements for you to check out on the Google Classroom.

Notices:

  • Once again we are looking for an artistic student to create original artwork for the musical poster. The top submission will be chosen, and the deadline is February 7. Any interested student should go see Mr. Weale in the Art Room for more information.

Student Services:

  • Today is the deadline for the Schulich Leadership Scholarship applications to be passed into Student Services.
  • On Monday at lunch, Parks Canada student recruitment officers will be set up outside Student Services with information and application forms for Parks Canada summer jobs for students.

Change of Bus:

  • Students that normally travel on bus#91 in the afternoon with stops at Pownal & Richmond St., Water St & Great George St., and Water St & Hillsborough St., you will now be traveling on bus #45. The bus should arriving at the school around 3:30 to pick up the students.

Meetings:

  • Attention cast and chorus of We Will Rock You the Musical. There will be an information meeting for all cast and chorus members on tomorrow at 11:50 in the Lecture Theater. Bring your lunch. There are also important announcements for you to check out on the Google Classroom.
  • All Duke Meetings are postponed until next week.

Notices:

  • Reminder to classes participating in Mr. Alisic’s political science debate today during block C in the Lecture Theatre…5 political parties, 5 political leaders…..One Winner!
  • Debate club:   Trip to Rural will be rescheduled, stay tuned for more details. There will be NO meeting today. Our next regular debate meeting is scheduled for next Thursday.
  • Students who have signed up to volunteer doing game sheets for the Charlottetown Ringette tournament, please see Mrs. Costello at lunch in room 144 for training. If there are any other students who need some volunteer hours see Mrs. Costello. Face painting is happening this Saturday 11-3 at Bell Aliant Center.  Students that signed up to do the face painting please Mrs. Costello.
  • Come to Space Disco tomorrow at lunch in room 244, this week’s theme is: Hawaii!
  • A reminder to the students writing Mr. MacDougald’s make up test to come to room 152 at the beginning of lunch.

Meetings:

  • There will be a Duke Meeting on Wednesday at lunch for all SILVER candidates and on Thursday at lunch for GOLD candidates. ALL STUDENTS should bring books to the meeting for SIGNING off on certain portions of the award. Any missing reports should be brought to this meeting.
  • Debate club meeting at lunch today, NOT in the lecture theatre. Instead, we will meet in Madame Labelle’s room, room 141.
  • Key Club meeting today at lunch in room 140.
  • SAFE Grad meeting for any interested grade 12’s today at 11:40-12:00 in Ms. Bovaird’s room
Student Services:
  • A Mount Allison University representative will be at Colonel Gray today at lunch time.
Teachers – today is Supervision Day 3.

Meetings:

The student Well Being Team CAST group will be meeting today 12:30 -2:30.
