  • There will be a Greek take-out lunch provided by the Culinary class this Thursday, tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased from Mrs. Hutchings in room 247 or from a Culinary student today and Tuesday….limited tickets.
  • If you would like to be a volunteer camp counsellor at Oak Acres this summer please Ms Duffy in Student Services. 
  • Students who registered for Peer Helping are asked to see Mrs. Cummins in the main office.
  • In rugby action this past weekend both the Men’s AAA and Women’s AAA teams competed fiercely in the Voye tournament run in Summerside. The boys lost their semi-final match to Bluefield, 7-5 on penalty kicks while the girls finished the weekend with a 2 and 1 record. The boys will look to avenge this defeat this Wednesday May 14th when they host the Bluefield Bobcats. Come out and support your Colonels as the boys look to continue their unbeaten ways in the regular season.
  • Attention all Colonel Gray Athletes… don’t forget to pick up your athletic point sheet and booster club membership coins.  See Mr. Huggan, Mr. MacDonald or Ms. Currie.
  • Sign up for the Colonel Gray Challenge today in  the gym. Teams of 4 in the male, female and coed and with a teacher divisions. This event is for everyone. Come join the fun.

  • Important Mosaic Club meeting on Friday at lunch in Mr. MacAdam’s class. We will be planning for our upcoming Mosaic Club Week and potluck. Also, if anyone is interested in doing a cultural performance for the event, please come to the meeting. Everyone is welcome – bring your friends!
  •  Little Big Band will rehearse today at lunch, all memebers must attend!
  • Are you missing the playoff spirit of our intramural ball hockey???  Well out with the new and in with the old… intramural lacrosse starts May 20th… sign up sheets are posted in the gym… be a part of it!

  • Good luck to our softball teams in their tip off tournament this weekend at Victoria Park as well as our rugby teams at the Voye tournament in Summerside.
  • Final Evaluations for all Grade 12 Colonel Gray students commences on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 and finishes on Friday, June 13, 2014. We will follow an A,B,C,D schedule with evaluations being written in the mornings.
    Final Evaluations for students in Grades 10 and 11 will commence on Friday, June 13 with Block D evaluations. We will then follow an A,B,C schedule with morning evaluations finishing on Wednesday, June 18. 
    It is Colonel Gray policy that evaluations will be written on the day for which they are scheduled. Only in extenuating circumstances such as bereavement or illness (with medical certificate) will evaluations be re-scheduled. Evaluations may not be re-scheduled for sporting events, vacations, graduation proms, etc;
  • Attention all students… This year’s Colonel Gray Challenge is May 21st.  It is an Amazing Race type of event that includes a variety of physical, mental, team building and problem solving challenges.  There are four division, male, female, co-ed and with a teacher…. enter your team of 5 today.  Sign up sheets are posted in the gym!
  • Congratulations to the Grade 10 concert band, Little Big Band and the senior jazz band on their outstanding performances at the Atlantic Band festival last weekend. All three bands received a gold standing! Best wishes and good luck to the Grade 11&12 concert band and senior jazz as they embark on their trip to New York and Montreal tomorrow and many thanks to all the teachers for their support of this trip by preparing work and assignments in advance so the band students don’t get behind …much appreciated !!

  • Students who registered for Peer Helping are asked to see Mrs. Cummins in the office today.
  • The Men’s AAA rugby defeated Kensington last night with a score of 34 to 3, improving to 2 and 0 on the season.
    The Women’s AAA rugby also achieved victory with a convincing 27 to 5 win against Kensington.
  • The Men’s and Women’s A teams both had a win and a loss as they battled Tosh. All in all, another great day for Colonel’s Rugby!
  • Mens softball tryouts today at 3:30 at City Diamond.
  • There are some new bursary/scholarship applications posted in Student Services. Most have a May 16 deadline.
  • Yearbook today at lunch in room 153.
  • Free the Children meeting today at lunch, anyone interested in next years executive position please come out.
  • Little Big Band will rehearse Friday at lunch. All members must attend.
  • Intramural Pickleball today at noon. Come join the fun!

Special Day Schedule – Thursday, May 8 – Student Council President Speeches

Thursday, May 8 has a Special Day schedule to allow some extra time for the students who are running for Student Council President to present their speeches to all current grade 10 and 11 students (voting members).

  Morning Bell Schedule – Thursday, May 8

9:00 – 10:10 Period 1

10:10 – 10:20 Break

10:20 – 11:30 Period 2

At 11:30, there will be an announcement asking all grade 10 and 11 students to transition to the cafeteria to hear the Student Council President election speeches.  Grade 12 students can complete the class period or dismiss for lunch.

  • After enjoying your lunch, come down to Ms Costello’s room for Prom Committee meeting! The prom song will be selected this meeting, come down and give us ideas! All are welcome
  • Students that are interested in throwing that they are welcome to come to practice which will be at the UPEI track for now on at 630 PM ,Wednesday and Thursday, Except for tonight of course. There are only two weeks left of practice before the zones.
  • Barry Gosby from The Student Loans Office will be here at Colonel Gray today.  The meeting will be held in room 139 from 11:40 until 12:25. All interested students are asked to attend. Parents are also welcome.  This is the only scheduled meeting with Student Loans so be sure to attend.
  • Attention class of 2014!  Do you want to be valedictorian for the graduating class?  Please see Mrs Cutcliffe in Room 213 before the end of the day on Friday.
  • There is a very important drama club meeting today at 12:00 in Room 215.  Anyone interested in acting, lighting, script writing, stage managing, or improv are encouraged to attend.
  • A reminder to graduating students that you can nominate yourself or another student for graduation prizes. The list of prizes is posted in Student Services.
  • Pickleball Intramurals will be postponed until tomorrow (Thursday). See you all tomorrow for pickleball.

  • Want to act?  Want to direct?  Want to be in the spotlight?  Want to be part of Colonel Gray’s Drama Club?  We are making big plans for next year, including an executive and an improv team.  If you would like to be involved, please come to Mr. Bechervaise’s room at 12:00 on Wednesday. 
  • Tryouts for the men’s softball team are today at 3:30 at City Diamond.
  • Congratulations to our rugby teams on a great start yesterday. Our boys AAA team ended a 9 year drought against Charlottetown Rural beating them 5-3. The A girls continued where they left off last year with two dominating wins over Rural. Our A boys went undefeated with a win and come from behind tie. All in all it was 4-0-1 Gray over Rural last night! 
  •  Good luck to the AAA girls who play Rural today at 3:30. Come on out and cheer them on!
  • Attention class of 2014!  Do you want to be valedictorian for the graduating class?  Please see Mrs Cutcliffe in Room 213 before the end of the day on Friday.
  • An Intramural Pickleball Ladder tournament will run today through Thursday. Just show up at the beginning of lunch, change and participate. Pickleball is a ton of fun and we hope to see a great turnout of both staff and students!
  •  The Spring Tip Off tournament for Softball is this weekend. Come out and support the Colonels at City Diamond this Friday evening and Saturday. Go Colonels!
  •  The competition is picking up in the Ironman/Ironwoman challenge. This week’s challenge is the sit and reach test. It will take place in the fitness center at noon on Friday. Make up tests for previous weeks will also be available.
  • GSA meeting at lunch in room 151.

  • Colonel Gray’s second annual art night is this Thursday.  Come out and see jugglers, yo-yo-ers, spoken word poetry, photography, pottery, and much, much more.  We look forward to seeing our art community getting involved. 
  • An information session about student loans will be held in Rm 139 at 11.45 on Wednesday.
  • “There is an important meeting for all Colonel Gray student athletes (grad 10-12, male & female, Wednesday at 11:50.”
  • All Band Trip documents and money due today. Grade 10 band classes on a regular schedule this week. Grade 11&12 band practice tuesday morning.

  • There is a mandatory meeting for all students wanting to be involved with the student council executive next year.  The meeting is in Room 215 at 11:45. 
  • Intramural Volleyball wraps up today with the Championship and 3rd/4th games. Thank you to all who participated in this fun and active Intramural Activity.
  • Tryouts for the men’s softball team will take place Friday, Monday and Tuesday at 3:30 at City Diamond.
  • Drama 801S Showed Inn rehearsal at lunch in the Lecture Theatre.
  • Congratulations and good luck to the grade 12 IB who finish high school today and start their final exams on Monday.
  • A tryout for a U16 womens basketball team will be held at Charlottetown Rural on Sunday May 4th from 1:00-3:00pm. Girls 17yrs and younger are welcome to attend!
