  • If you have signed up to help decorate for winter formal you are asked to please come to the student council office at the beginning of lunch for a very important yet brief meeting!
  • Colonel Gray’s Winter Formal “Santa’s Wrecking Ball” is tonight from 8-11pm. Today is the last day to purchase tickets from Ms. Fleming’s office at lunch for $5.
  • The AA boys basketball team lost a hard fought battle to Souris last night by a score of 56-52. Outstanding defensive efforts came from Mark Dunlop and Omaro Sefau.
  • A reminder that Wrestling is canceled today due to the dance. There is an optional practice tomorrow (Friday) from 3:30pm-5pm for those who would like to train.
  • KEY Club will be having a cake walk and will also be selling candy grams tomorrow at lunch!! 
  • Happy 50th Birthday to Mr. Cutcliffe!! 
  • No badminton practice tomorrow morning.

    • KEY Club will be having a cake walk Friday at lunch in the cafeteria!! Also candy grams will be for sale and will be throughout next week too.
    • Free the Children bakesale today at lunch in the lobby. COme out and decorate a cookie! Free the Children meeting Friday at lunch in room 120- New members are always welcome!
    • JAG is today at lunch in room 152, All are Welcome!
    • Yearbook meeting today at lunch in room 153, if you haven’t submitted your yearbook quote please do so on the link on the Colonel Gray events and activities page on Facebook.
    • Today is the last day to purchase tickets for the Winte Formal Dance through your block C teacher. Costs are $5 for CG students and $10 for non CG students. Tickets will be on sale through Ms. Fleming tomorrow as well.
    • There will be chess club today at lunch in room 151, bring your lunch.
    • Brief Safe Grad meeting today at 12:10 in Mrs. Bradley’s room.
    • Tomorrow the Learning Center/staff is putting on a free turkey dinner for all CG students.

Christmas Turkey Dinner – Thursday, Dec. 12 at noon

Thursday, December 12, the school will be filled with the aroma of a Christmas turkey meal as it is prepared and served by and for over 600 students and staff at Colonel Gray.  The turkeys and all of the fixings are donated and cooked by students, staff, and community.  The meal is served out of the Learning Centre during the noon hour.  Leave your lunch at home of enjoy.

  • Colonel Gray’s “Stop the Stigma” group is having a musical chairs event today in the gym.  The group is trying to stop the stigma associated with mental illness such as depression.  Come to the gym today to find out more details.
  • Colonel Gray dance group will resume after Christmas break on January 14.
  • Colonel Gray’s winter formal “Santa’s Wrecking Ball” will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 8-11pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased through your block C teacher today & tomorrow. If you don’t have a block C class, tickets can be purchased in Ms. Fleming’s office at lunch or after school. If you’re looking to take a guest from another school their ticket is $10.
  • The leadership classes will be hosting their final fundraising event of the semester with a coffee house on Wednesday, Dec 11 from 7:00-9:00 The event will feature great entertainment from the school and community. Admission  is $3.00 and snacks will be available, so come out and support families in need.
  • Student Council meeting and dance committee meeting for the winter formal today at lunch in room 215.
  • There will be a short Safe Grad full committee meeting today at 12:10 p.m. in Mrs. Bradley’s room to discuss our role in the up-coming Winter Semi Dance on Thursday.  Eveyone’s attendance would be appreciated.

    • Colonel Gray’s winter formal “Santa’s Wrecking Ball” will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 8-11pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased through your block C teacher starting today. If you don’t have a block C class, tickets can be purchased in Ms. Fleming’s office at lunch or after school. If you’re looking to take a guest from another school their ticket is $10.
    • Due to a scheduling conflict, the Archery Club will meet today and Thursday this week.
    • KEY Club will be having a Christmas Cake walk this Friday and lunch in the cafeteria. Make sure you don’t miss it!!!
    • Congratulations to both of our AAA basketball teams on their impressive play at their respective tournaments on the weekend.  Our boys team won their pool and lost a tough semi-final to the eventual tournament champions Halifax Grammar.  Our girls team won their first two games before falling in the semi-final.
    • A big shout out to Mr. Colin MacDonald and his leadership class for doing such a great job running the 24th Annual Gray Cup this past weekend.  Great work!!
    • The girls AAA team captured the bronze medal at the Irving Cup!
    • Immersion students in grades 11, 12 and IB French Standard Level students are reminded to be on the buses by 11:50. 
      Bus numbers are #12 Wayne MacKinnon and #189 David Buell
    • Free the Children bake sale this Wednesday at lunch. Come out and decorate a cookie!!

  • A rep from St. Thomas University will be Student Services today during lunch  time.
  • Are you in need of volunteer hours for the Community Service Bursary?  Salvation Army is looking for students to help prepare their Christmas hampers.  For more information and to sign up, see Mrs Cummins in room 121 today at lunch.

24th Annual Gray Cup starts Thursday, Dec. 5th

The 24th Annual Colonel Gray Cup starts on Thursday, December 5th. This year’s tournament promises to be exciting, with sixteen of the Maritimes best teams.

Teams participating this year include Colonel Gray, Charlottetown Rural, Bluefield, TOSH, Riverview, Breton Education Center, Moncton High, McNaughton, Sackville, North Nova, Lockview, Westisle, Central Kings, Montague, Sir John A, and Halifax Grammar School.

Games kick off on Thursday afternoon at 4:00 with Colonel Gray taking on Lockview in the Colonel Gray gym and Central Kings playing Rural at Holland College. Games will take place Thursday night, all day Friday and all day Saturday. The finals take place at 2:00 on Saturday in the Colonel Gray gym.

As well, there will be a skills competition including events like 3 point shots, 2 ball, and foul shots. This is taking place on Friday at 3:15 in the Colonel Gray Gym. Here is a complete schedule of games for the weekend:
