  • The winner of the pumpkin weight contest in the cafeteria is Colby Livingstone, Colby quessed 9lbs and the pumpkin weighed 9.8lbs.
  • Students can participate in the Coats For Kids Program, by donating of warm winter clothing (such as winter coats one may have outgrown, mitts, boots, etc.) to the donation box outside Student Services.  Contributions before Parent Teacher Interviews will be forwarded to the larger donation depot at Confederation Court Mall. 
  • A rep from Redeemer College will be in Student Services today during lunch time.
  • Those students who helped on Monday night with the Y’s men Food Drive and who would like to get credit for hours for the Community Bursary are to see Mr. Foster in Student Services today at 11:40-12:30. 
  • Congrats to the Field Hockeyteamon winning the bronze medal with a 2-0 win over Bluefield, both goals were scored by Maggie Reid, shutout by Emma MacKinnon, Congrats to league All-stars Anneke Dykerman, Christie Hall & Sarah Sear. Congrats to Provincial Finals All-star Emma MacKinnon.
  • It was a big day for Colonel Gray Athletics as all of our teams won their playoff games!! 
    The A girls soccer team beat Montague 4-3 to win their semi-final and advance to the gold medal game on Saturday. 
    The AAA men beat Bluefield in overtime 4-3, the AAA women beat Bluefield 2-1, both teams move on to play Rural in the final on Saturday.  Our women’s volleyball team beat Rural, and our men battled hard but came up short. 
    Congrats to all of teams and good luck with your playoff runs!!

  • For any grade 10 students who did not pick up their grade 9 Math and Literacy Assessments from your 3 year homeroom teacher yesterday can you please contact your homeroom teacher today to pick them up.
  • Anyone who is interested in getting involved with Parry Aftab’s Cyberbullying Youth Summit, come to Mrs. Cutcliffe’s room 213 at lunch – 11:40.
  • The Colonel Gray “Coats for Kids” campaign has begun. Please bring any winter clothing to student Services before November 9th and place in the bin.
  • Today in dodgeball the Dodgers will race the Corner Gang in game 1 and the Privateers will take on the Dodge Dudes in game 2.
  • On Friday November1st, we will be ahaving a kick-off to Movember! Stop by the Student Council office Friday to get a picture of your clean shaven face taken!
  • There will be a theme day tomorrow to celebrate Halloween, don’t forget to wear your costume! There will be candy prizes, a photo booth and even a cat walk-fashion show to model you costume at lunchtime!
  • There will be no JAG today, so please come next week so we can discuss the baked goods giveaway on the 13th of November!
  • All staff are reminded that if they pay their social fees before 3:15 today in the library, they will be entered into the draw to win their fee back!
  • Girls Field Hockey bronze medal game is today at 4:00 at UPEI.
  • Charlottetown Y’s Men want to thank all students and staff who helped with the Food Drive on Monday night

Remembrance Day Service at Colonel Gray – Nov. 7, 2013

Colonel Gray Remembrance Day Service

This Remembrance Day Service is led by Colonel Gray Students.  There is a special presenter to help students understand and remember sacrifices made by Canadians in service of their country. 

Adjusted Schedule –  Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 Day 1

9:00 – 9:50 Block A

9:50 – 10:00 Break

10:00 – 10:50 Block B and transition to the gym for the Remembrance Day Service

  • There will be an announcement asking students and teachers to go to the gym.

10:50 – 11:50 Student Remembrance Day Service (there will not be a bell to end the service)

11:50 – 12:40 Lunch

12:40 – 1:50 Block C

1:50 – 2:00 Break

2:00 – 3:10 Block D

Alternating Day Schedule returns in November

Starting in November we will return to an alternating day schedule.

Day 1 (Block ABCD) on odd calendar days.  Examples:  November 15 is a day 1, January 9 is Day 1.

Day 2 (Block BADC) on even calendar days.  Examples:  November 16 is a day 2, February 26 is Day 2.

This day schedule will not change when there are storms, holidays or non-school days so forward planning is simplified.

  • Today, Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 3:04 p.m. grade 10 3-year homeroom groups and their homeroom teacher to return to home rooms to pick up the envelopes with each students results of the grade 9 standardized ILI and IMA assessments.
  • A rep from Redeemer College will be in Student Services during lunch time on Thursday.
  • Reminder to anyone interested in learning more about Encounter with Canada, there will be an information session today at lunch in room 139.
  • Learn to Dance club meets  at four today in the cafeteria.
  • Free the Children’s Haunted Basement event will be running today, tomorrow and Thursday at lunch. It is $2 per person so come out and get scared! Reminder to anyone participating in the basement to get out of your Block B class 10 mins early.

  • A representative from Tyndale University in Toronto and Trinity West University in British Columbia will be in Student Services after school today.
  • Information session on Encounters with Canada, Canada’s largest Youth Form,  on Tuesday, October 29th at lunch – room 139.  Come learn about a great opportunity!  This is open to everyone!
  • Today in dodgeball action the Privateers will face the Windians in the first gaem followed by Ball or nothing vs the kings in the second.
  • There will be a Halloween theme day this Thursday the 31st. Dress up ihn your Halloween costume for a chance to have your picture taken. Model your costume and even win some free candy!!
  • Students in Mme Cummins gr 10 French class who need to finish their test from Friday, are to meet in room 121 at lunch.  Bring your lunch!
     Congratulations to our cross country teams for pulling off an amazing repeat sweep of all 4 provincial championships!  Great work runners and coaches!Our women’s field hockey team has a semi-final game tonight at 6:00 against Montague at the Cornwall turf.  Get out and show some support!!!

    All of our soccer teams have semi-final games this Wednesday.  Our AAA teams will both play Bluefield, while top seeded A girls teams play the lowest seeded quarter final winning team.

    Our volleyball teams also have a busy week.  They host Three Oaks tomorrow and Bluefield on Wednesday.

  • Help is needed witht the Y’s Men’s Food Drive. If you can help would you please meet us at the Teacher’s doors at Colonel Gray at 5:30pm today….All help is greatly appreciated.
