Stadacona Band of Canadian Forces Atlantic

The Stadacona Band of Canadian Forces Atlantic

On Wednesday, September 18, 2013 the Stadacona Band will be performing at Colonel Gray High School at 7:00 pm in the gymnasium. The Stadacona Band of the Royal Canadian Navy is one of six regular force military bands serving the Canadian Forces. This band is based out of Halifax, NS.

The band is comprised of 35 musicians. This year marks their 73rd Anniversary of representing the Navy. The Stadacona band is in constant demand as they travel the Maritimes to help out with many charitable organizations.

Please join us as we welcome the band as our guests to Colonel Gray High School on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 7:00 pm. There will also be a guest performance by the PEI Regiment Band.

Advance tickets may be purchased from Colonel Gray band members, or the Music Department office at 368-6860 ext 249. Tickets will also be for sale at the door the night of the concert. Ticket price is $5.00/ person. All proceeds from the sale of tickets go directly to the Colonel Gray music students travel fund.

  • Mosaic Club meeting today at lunch in Mr. Macadam’s class, Room 116. All are welcome.
  • The Terry Fox Committee will be meeting on Monday, Sept 16th at 11:45 in room 129, anyone interested please attend!
  • Students are reminded to smoke in the designated area only, which is in the last row of parking spots in the student parking lot. Students are not permitted to smoke in vehicles.
  • Students should use their lockers to store personal items like cell phones and wallets while they participate in gym classes or other school activities. Please do not leave personal items unattended.

 

  • Today is a teacher Duty Day 1.

  • Students are reminded to smoke in the designated area only, which is in the last row of parking spots in the student parking lot. Students are not permitted to smoke in vehicles.
  • Students should use their lockers to store personal items like cell phones and wallets while they participate in gym classes or other school activities. Please do not leave personal items unattended.
  • Anyone interested in being a part of a table tennis club please meet today in the Peace Garden at lunch or after school.
  • Anyone wishing to volunteer in the library this term please sign up with Mrs Profit in the library before next week.
  • A short meeting will be held for all students interested in joining the Colonel Gray Wrestling Team this Fall/Winter. The meeting will take place today at the start of lunch in the gym.
  • The Stadacona Band of Canadian Forces Atlantic will be performing a concert next Wednesday the 18th at 7pm in the Colonel Gray gym. Tickets are $5.
  • Music students are reminded to pick up tickets for The Stadacona Band Concert. All tickets sold are an individual credit for your travel fund.
  • The Music Department’s magazine campaign is now underway. Should you wish to support the Band by buying a magazine subscription or renewing one, please see any music student or by calling the music dept. office at 368-6860 ext 249. The prices are the cheapest anywhere.
  • Music students may pick up magazine catalogues anytime from the band room.

Free The Children meeting this Thursday in the Lecture Theatre. Anyone wishing to participate in the Haunted Basement please attend.

St. Thomas University will be in student services on Monday, September 16 at 11:40.  Any student interested in learning more about St. Thomas are welcome to attend.

There are some great Encounters for Canada weeks available for October.  Please see Mrs. McCabe for further information.

Just a note to students that the breakfast program has started in the learning centre, room 127. It is running every morning from 8:30 to 8:55.

There will be a brief but important golf meeting on Tuesday Sept. 10th at 11:40 in Student Services.
All interested male and female golfers must attend.
There will be a meeting on today at 11:45 in room 118 for any student or staff that would like to join the Learn to Run Club at Colonel Gray.
No experience required – just a desire to try something new or make that positive change in your life.
This is a none competitive club whose only goals are to learn something new while having some fun, meeting new people and making new friends.

There is a meeting todayat 12:20 in the gym for all girls interested in playing basketball this year.

  1. ‘A’ girls soccer try outs will be today, tomorrow and Wednesday at the Co-op Field at 4:00pm
  2. Field Hockey tryouts today 3:30-5:30 at UPEI Turf, tomorrow 3:30-5:00 at UPEI turf.
  3. The 1st Terry Fox Meeting will be held in room 129 (across from computer lab 153) at 11:40 on Wednesday, September 11th. All interested students are asked to attend.
  4.  Colonel Gray AA girls went undefeated at the Dalhousie A.C. tournament. Gray finished with 3 wins and no losses, and they did this without any subs. Two game winning goals were scored by the two goalies; Hailey Fleming, and Olivia Doucette. Emma Clark had the other game winning goal along with three other goals. Sasha Perry, and Kelly Green were named players of the game for Colonel Gray. Two shutouts were shared by Olivia Doucette, and Hailey Fleming.  The Colonel Gray AA girls showed tremendous fighting spirit!
  5. No training for the girls AA soccer team tomorrow. Practice and tryouts resume Tuesday at 3:30pm.
  6. All Fall sports are up and running today, please check the schedule posted on the gym bulletin board for details! 
  7. There is a meeting Tuesday at 12:20 in the gym for all girls interested in playing basketball this year.
  8. There will be a yearbook meeting today and Wednesday at lunch in the computer lab in room 153. All students are encouraged to drop by and get involved with this year’s book. The meeting will start around 11:50 and will finish at the end of lunch.  Also, if you haven’t picked up the books from last year, you can do so in the main office.
