Meetings:

  • Meeting for anyone taking part in cross country today at lunch in the Lecture Theatre.
  • Key Club Executive will meet today. (Executive Only!!)
  • Making Waves will be meeting today in room 243 at 11:40 for about 15-20 minutes. Bring your friends, come  find out more about Making Waves! All are welcome.

Notices:

  • Reminder of the Food Drive! We need to bring in more food than Charlottetown Rural. Every day, leave your food outside by the door of your block B class!
  • Today’s Terry Fox Trivia Question: What was the name of Terry’s best friend who traveled with him during his marathon? Put your name & response on a slip of paper in the box in Student Services for a chance to win prizes.

Students Services:

  • Mount Saint Vincent University will be visiting Student Services at lunch on Monday, Oct. 1st.  The representative will be doing on-the-spot admissions and waiving the application fee at this time.
  • Any Grade 11 or 12 honors student interested in serving as a Page in the Legislative Assembly should check in Student Services by Wednesday, Oct. 3rd for more information.  Pages work 5 – 8 hours per week and receive $15.83 per hour, plus mileage.  Pages are responsible for delivery of documents, serving refreshments, photocopying and other responsibilities assigned by the Speaker or the Clerks.

Teachers, today is a supervision day 5.

Athletics:

  • AAA Boys soccer will train Wednesday at 3.30pm and will travel to Montague on Thursday at 3.45.

Meetings:

  • Red Cross Club will hold it’s first meeting today in room 117 at 12:00, all are welcome!
  • Improv Club will meet today at lunch in room 215 at 11:55.

  • Peer Helpers are reminded of the quick meetings in the library at the start of their peer helping blocks.
  • Are you tired of the big, round lies? The answer is right in front of you! Colonel Gray’s Flat Earth Society meets today in Area 51.  For answers to the world’s riddles come one, come all!

  • Do you want to spend the month of July living and learning at a university campus? The SHAD enrichment program is an an opportunity for high school students to explore science, technology and entrepreneurship through hands-on learning fin the form of lectures, workshops and challenges at a host university. Learn how you can explore Canada this July and meet student leaders from across the country at the SHAD info session taking place at 11:40 tomorrow in room 244.

  •  Little big band music is ready for musicians.  Rehearsals start tomorrow morning.
     New music will come out this week, and first rehearsal is Thursday (27th) at lunch.

Meetings:

  • Improv Club will meet Wednesday at lunch in room 215.

  • As a kick off to our Terry Fox campaign, we will be starting to post Terry Fox trivia questions each day leading up to the run, scheduled for Friday, October 5th.  Responses to questions should be put on a slip of paper, with your name, and placed in the grey box outside the student council office.  Before the run, we will draw from all the correctly entered responses, and be giving away Terry Fox merchandise.
    Today’s question:  In what year did Terry begin his Marathon of Hope run?
    Also – there is a chalkboard in the cafeteria where students & staff are invited to write who they wish to run for this year.  Think about posting names of people you have lost to cancer, or those who were fortunate enough to survive.

  • A reminder to the baseball team that everyone is to meet at Jewell’s today at 4:40 before heading out to Morell for the game tonight. Also, make sure to get your permission forms to Mr. Gregory sometime today if you haven’t already.

Band:

Band:

  • Masterclass with Juno award winning jazz musicians “The North” tomorrow at 12 noon in the band room.  This is open to all music students.
     Little big band music is ready for musicians.  Rehearsals start Tuesday morning.
     R and B band is picked for this year.  Line-up is posted in the bandroom.  New music will come out next week, and first rehearsal is next Thursday (27th) at lunch.

  • All people interested in KEY Leader conference Oct 12-14th please see Mrs. Lee in room 140 at lunch on Friday
  • Picture day is today and Friday.  They will be taken on the stage in the cafeteria.  Students will be called down in alphabetical order throughout the day.
    All staff are reminded to have their picture taken during prep or before or after school this year.  All students need to have their picture taken so they will have an updated student ID card to attend dances.

Student Services:

  • The Workers Compensation Board is seeking two Grade 11 or 12 students for it’s Occupational Health & Safety Leadership Program at our school. Students who are selected, and complete all program requirements, will receive $500 at the end of the school year. Deadline is Sept. 28th. Check on the Student Services bulletin board for more information.
