Fall Upcoming Sports

Posted on: November 21st, 2017 by Andrew MacDougald

As our fall sport season comes to a close, we have a lot to celebrate and reflect on here at Colonel Gray. The 13th Annual Wall of Fame Cup had another successful year, with 32 teams participating from across the Maritimes. Our men’s soccer team won the championship game against visiting Riverview High School. Thank you to the many staff & students who volunteered their time- without you this tournament would not be a success and the Athletics Department appreciates your time and efforts.

Baseball, golf, cross-country, soccer, field hockey and volleyball teams all had very successful seasons, with many of our athletes being selected to provincial all-star teams. Our cross-country teams brought home three provincial banners in the Juvenile Women, Senior Women & Senior Men categories. Our AAA men’s and women’s soccer teams, A men’s soccer, women’s and men’s volleyball teams all participated in provincial championships, bringing home silver medals. Our women’s field hockey team brought home a bronze medal. These results were a product of hard work and dedication throughout the season. A huge thank you goes out to all of our fall coaches for dedicating their time: Mark Gregory, Thane Arsenault, Gordie Cox, Max Arsenault, Aaron Pugh, Jenny White, Jordon Havenga, Mike Peterson, Maureen Leard, Charla Currie, Ellen Andrews, Wally Morrison, Lori MacFarlane, Christy Richardson, Enes Alisic, Julie McCabe, Alyssa Watts, Amy Dawson and Laura Lindsay.

As one season comes to a close, another one begins. We will be kicking off our basketball season with two tournaments here at Gray. The Colonel Gray Women’s Classic will run November 24 th and 25th, with six teams participating from across the Maritimes. The 28th Annual Gray Cup will run from November 30th to December 2nd and features twelve teams from PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia & Quebec.

The regular season schedule for the 2017-2018 Basketball season can be found on the PEISAA website.

We are also hoping to have athletes attend the first Powerlifting provincial qualifier on December 7th in Montague.

We hope to see you out this winter supporting our Colonels at our home games, and we’re looking forward to another great season with the fantastic athletes, coaches and parents we have here at Colonel Gray.
