Notices:

  • A reminder to all students who signed up, the Canadian Open Mathematics Competition will be help in the library at 9am Thursday. Please be there 5 minutes early.
  • The craft fair sign up will be open November 6th from 5 -8 pm.  You can sign up for 180 minutes.  This is accessible through the Colonel Gray Band website.
  • Please book your grad photo appointment in the Library with Mrs. Profit. Photos start on the interviews day (Nov. 17th) in the library conference room. Appointments must be made BEFORE Friday, November 9th.
  • Picture retakes will be on November 2nd.

Band:

  • Honors band students will rehearse today after school from 3:20-4:20
  • Grade 11& 12 concert band will rehearse, Wednesday & Thursday morning at 7:45am
  • Senior Jazz Band will rehearse Wednesday after school,3:15-4:15pm

Meetings:

  • There will be a meeting at 11:40 today in room 140 for the KEY Club EXEC members only.
  • There will be a BRIEF meeting at 11:40 for all Duke of E candidates in room 140 on WEDNESDAY
  • Free the Children meeting Wednesday at lunch in the Lecture Theatre…. All are welcome to come!

Athletics:

Student Services:

  • Are you thinking about attending Holland College next year?  Do you want to save $40?  Why not take advantage of the Holland College drop-in campus tour day on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. If students apply to their program of choice on Saturday, Holland College will waive the application fee. However, all prospective students must RSVP at www.hollandcollege.com/campus-tour-day.

Athletics:

  • Congratulations to our three soccer teams who finished their seasons with silver medals on Saturday.  A huge thank you goes out to coaches Enes Alisic, Julie McCabe, Alyssa Watts, Lori MacFarlane, Christy Richardson & Wally Morrison for their time and hard work this season.
  • “AAA” men and women are reminded to bring their uniforms in to Mrs. Lindsay this week.
  • Colonel Gray will be hosting Volleyball provincials on November the 10th. Could volleyball scorekeepers interested in scorekeeping some of those games please see Mrs. Lindsay.

Meetings:

  • Free the Children meeting at lunch in the Lecture Theatre on Wednesday November 1st.
  • Key Club meeting today at lunch in room 140.

Notices:

  • Anyone interested in earning volunteer hours ~the library is looking for volunteers. There will be a meeting Monday at 12:00……in the library.

Notices:

  • Any students that have picture orders for lifetouch, please ensure they are in the office by the end of the day today.
    Any orders after this Friday will have to be mailed in by the student or remember, you can also order on line.
    Retake day is Nov 2nd.  Please bring your first proof package to hand in to the photographer at the time of retakes.
  • Workplace safety fact of the day: Workers who use drugs are 3.6 times more likely to be injured at work. Workplace safety photobooth in the cafeteria at lunch! 10$ taco boyz gift card awarded to the first participant with all of this weeks facts!
  • Colonel Gray themed hats will be available for pre-order starting on Monday. Visit the booth under the main stairs at lunch if you’re interested. Every pre-order will have a chance to win one of four 20$ gift cards.

Athletics:  Yesterday was a great day in athletics for our teams in the post-season.

  • Field Hockey defeated Bluefield 1-0 in the bronze medal game at UPEI. Hannah Fong scored the lone goal and Tessa Hood recorded her final shut-out of her high school field hockey career. Tessa Hood, Haley Savident and Sydney Sear were awarded provincial all-stars and Hannah Fong was awarded the provincial tournament all-star. A huge thank you to coaches Charla Currie and Ellen Andrews for a great season!
  • All three soccer teams who played in semi-final matches last night won, and will move on to the Championships on Saturday at UPEI.
    “AAA” men’s soccer defeated Rural 3-0. “A” men’s soccer were tied 1-1 at the half with Evangeline but pulled out a 4-0 win. “AAA” women had a 2-0 win on a the road against Westisle.
  • “A” men will play at 11 on Saturday, women at 1, “AAA” men at 3. All games are at UPEI. Come on out and support your Colonels!
  • Mens volleyball won against Rural in their last league home game while the girls lost to KISH.
  • Reminder that there will be a short meeting in Room 215 at the beginning of lunch for ALL girls interested in playing basketball this year at Colonel Gray.

Notices:

  • Due to low ticket sales, the Halloween Dance has been cancelled. Please see your block A teacher for your refund.

Athletics:

  • Today we have three of our soccer teams competing in provincial semi-final matches.

    “AAA” women are headed to Westisle, game time is at 4pm.
    “A” men host Evangeline at 3pm on Colonel Gray field, warm up starts at 2:30.
    “AAA” men host Charlottetown Rural at 4pm on Simmons field.

  • Our women’s field hockey team will be playing Bluefield in the provincial Bronze medal game at 4pm at UPEI.

  • Men’s volleyball is hosting Rural for their last league home game at 5pm, and our women’s volleyball team is heading to KISH.

  • There will be men’s basketball tomorrow morning from 7-830.

  • There will be a short meeting for ANY girls interested in playing basketball for Colonel Gray on tomorrow at the beginning of lunch in room 215. This is for girls interested in playing for the AAA or AA teams.

  • GrayFit is back tomorrow and then Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from here on in.   Be ready to go at 3:30 in the Wellness Centre.

Meetings:

  • Debate club meeting in the lecture theatre this Thursday at 12:00. All are welcome!
  • First Strive meeting will take place in room 139 today at lunch.
  • Red Cross meeting at lunch in room 230.

Band:

Grade 11&12 concert band Thursday at 7:45 am, Senior Jazz band today at 3:15-4:15 and Friday morning at 7:45am

Notices:

  • The Y’s Men Club in Charlottetown would like to thank all students that were involved in the food drive on Monday evening. Earl Foster will be in Student Services over the lunch break on Thurs, Oct 26 to fill out the community student bursary forms.
  • Don’t forget to buy your Halloween dance tickets from your block A teachers! The dance will be held in the cafeteria tomorrow night 7-10pm. Tickets are $5 and $10 for a guest from another school. Remember to wear a Halloween costume!
  • Workplace safety fact of the day:10% of skin cancers are caused by workplace chemical exposure.
  • Come to Space Disco Club on Friday in room 244 at lunch! This week’s theme is Halloween!

Athletics:

  • There will be NO early morning badminton this Friday.
  • The gym will be opened 7:45 AM tomorrow (Wednesday) instead this week for early club badminton.
  • GrayFit is back this week on Tuesday and Thursday this week and then Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from here on in.  Kinetic Fitness will be coaching the Tuesday classes and Ms. Currie will coach the Wednesday and Thursdays.   Be ready to go at 3:30 in the Wellness Centre.

Notices:

  • Join Colonel Gray Events & Activities on Facebook to stay up to date with anything and everything to do with Colonel Gray.

Athletics:

  • Men and Women’s volleyball travel to Westisle today, bus leaves at 3:45 from the front of the school.
  • Field Hockey has a huge semi-final game today against Charlottetown Rural at 3:30 at the Cornwall Turf. Good luck ladies!
    Reminder that early morning badminton club will only be on Fridays for now, 8-8:30.
  • Boys “A” soccer will have a short practice after school tomorrow. Field TBA

Student Council:

  • This week is workplace safety awareness week at Colonel Gray! Listen for a workplace safety fact every day this week. There will be a workplace safety photobooth in the cafeteria this Friday, and the first person to bring a list of each day’s facts will win a 10$ taco boyz gift card.

    Today’s fact is: Every 15 seconds a worker dies due to workplace injury. 6300 workers die unnecessarily daily.

Meetings:

  • Free the children meeting today at lunch in the art room.
  • KEY Club meeting today at lunch. Don’t forget theY’s Men’s FOOD Drive is Tonight at 5:30. Meet by the teacher doors.  Everyone is welcome to assist with the food drive.

Band:

  • Grade 10 Concert Band will rehearse tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at 8am.
  • Grade 11 & 12 Concert Band Wednesday & Thursday at 7:45am

  • Congratulations to Cameron Gordon who won first place in the sub-junior division at the 2017 Iron Bug Power lifting meet this weekend. Cameron benched 170, squat 247 and dead lifted 267 pounds for the win! Congratulations Cameron!”
  • A big shoutout to Grant MacAdam and Kaylin White who appeared on Sportsnet with Ron MacLean and Tara Sloane announcing the three stars of the Detroit/Vancouver game last night.
  • Reminder that some Colonel Gray students have a blood donation appointment this Tuesday and Thursday, check with Mrs. Costello in room 144 for your time and location. 2 appointments are still available for Tuesday after school if anyone is interested.
  • DUKE of Edinburgh Award Final Reports are due WEDNESDAY. See Mrs. Lee Today  if you need the google classroom code.

Congratulations X-Country Champions

Congratulations to the X-Country team for capturing three of the four banners at Tuesday’s provincial meet. The senior men and women and juvenile women all won team championships, while the juvenile men narrowly missed, finishing second. The senior women were led by Emma Germain who finished second, right on the heels of the first place finisher. The senior men ran away with the title, led by Nick Robertson’s blazing fast win and Samuel Peterson, who finished third. The juvenile women nearly swept the podium, with Jessie Campbell finishing first, Alexa McQuaid second and Milla MacVicar fourth. Isaac McCardle led the juvenile boys by finishing second, only two seconds behind heavily favoured Joel Gallant of Evangeline. Great job, Colonels.

Athletics:

  • “A” men and women’s soccer host Souris today at 4:30, while “AAA” men and women head to Rural.
  • Men’s volleyball plays at Bluefield at 5 pm, girls at 7 pm.
  • Field Hockey is in a quarter final today after school at the Cornwall turf. Good luck ladies!
  • All “A” mens soccer team meet in room 102 at lunch for a short meeting.
  • There will still be men’s basketball open gym tomorrow morning at 7 am.
  • Ryan Thompson please see Mrs. Lindsay at lunch in the gym.
  • Congratulations to our senior men and women and our juvenile women for winning the banner at Cross-Country provincials yesterday. In juvenile women Jessie Campbelle finished first and Alexa McQuaid finished second. In juvenile men, Isaac McCardle finished second, in senior women Emma Germaine finished second and in senior men Nick Robertson finished first and Samuel Peterson finished third. Thank you to coaches Mike Peterson and Maureen Leard for all their work this season.

  • Debate club in the lecture theatre today at noon, all welcome!
  • Quick Red Cross Club meeting today at lunch next to room 230. Please bring completed volunteer applications.

Athletics:

  • “A” Women’s soccer lost to Westisle 1-0 last night, while “A” men’s soccer defeated Kinkora 5-1.
    In “AAA” soccer action, the men won against Westisle 1-0 while the women tied 1-1.
    Field hockey lost to Montague 2-0. Men and women’s volleyball defeated Montague in three sets.

Student Council:

  • Tonight is scary movie night in the cafeteria from 6-10pm

Notices:

  • Can the following students please see Mr. Thane Arsenault at the break, Nick Profitt, Patrick Young and Yuto Kitakata.
  • An information session for students interested in the Rotary Youth Exchange will take place on Monday of next week, Oct.23 at 7:00pm at Charlottetown Rural High School. Parents and students are invited to attend in planning for the 2018-2019 school year. See Mr. Peterson for details.
