  • The Colonel Gray Badminton Club would like to invite all competitive badminton players to our weekly meet ups on Sundays from 10am-12pm at the Colonel Gray Gym.  Train and brush up on your skills early to prepare for our competitive school team in the spring! For more information, you can see Mrs. Whalley.
  • Planning to attend Holland College next year?  Want to save yourself $50? Join the Holland College Campus Tour on Saturday, Nov. 5th, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tour pre-registration is required, but the admissions team will review your application and waive the usual $50 applicant fee – on this date.
  • This Saturday we saw three of our soccer teams finishing up their fall season at the Cornwall turf. While the outcome wasn’t what we wanted, all teams played hard in the rain and cold weather in very close games. Our A boys were defeated in penalty kicks by Francois Buote, and the AAA boys and girls lost in 1-0 games to Bluefield and Westisle respectively. The Phys Ed department would like to take this opportunity to thank all athletes & coaches for the effort they put in this season. Players are reminded to return jerseys to Mrs. Lindsay as soon as possible.
    There will be a meeting for ALL girls interested in playing basketball this year at Colonel Gray at lunch time in Rm 214 at 11:45. This is for girls interested in playing AAA or AA. Please see Mrs. Lindsay if you are unable to make the meeting.
    Boys volleyball will travel to Francois Buote today, game time is at 4pm.
  • Grade 10 band practice Tuesday morning at 7:40.
  • Cafeteria specials today are chicken fingers & wedges, 3 cheese pizza & wedges or grilled cheese & wedges $5.25 each

  • Reminder to all students interested in auditioning for “The Little Mermaid” the musical: the audition sign up sheets are now posted outside the band room.  Auditions will happen next week, so come down as soon as possible to get a time.  If you have any questions, see Mr. Petrie or Mr. Jabbour.
  • A Rotary Student Exchange Information Night will be held in Colonel Gray Lecture Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.   Interested students, ages 15-19, should bring at least one parent with them to find out more about possibly participating in this great adventure.
  • Holland College Campus Tour Day is Nov. 5. Pre-register for the tour. Students who submit application forms on this day, will have the $50 application fee waived.
  • Intramural soccer will be starting on Monday: Sammy Yacoub vs Passang Tamang.
    If you’re interested in putting a team in and have not done so yet, please see the Phys Ed department immediately.
    Today at lunch there will be yoga for any interested students in the gym. Please be here by 11:45 for yoga. Because of this the gym will be closed to other students. This will be recurring every Wednesday.
    In athletics today women’s field hockey will be traveling to Summerside to play in the bronze medal game at 2pm at Credit Union Place. AAA men and women’s soccer will both take on Charlottetown Rural in their semi-final games at the Cornwall turf, at 3pm and 5pm respectively. A men’s soccer will host Morell here at the school at 4pm in their semi-final game. We hope to see lots of fans out supporting our teams.
  • Cafeteria specials today are pulled pork on a kaiser with rice$5.25  or BBQ pizza & wedges $5.25.

  • The Charlottetown Y’s Men’s would like to thank staff and students for all your help with last nights food drive.
  • Reminder to all students interested in auditioning for “The Little Mermaid” the musical: the audition sign up sheets are now posted outside the band room.  Auditions will happen next week, so come down as soon as possible to get a time.  If you have any questions, see Mr. Petrie or Mr. Jabbour.

  • There will be a very important information session tomorrow evening at 7pm in the lecture theatre for any students in grades 10-12 who are interested in a Rotary Exchange next year.  See Mr. Peterson for details.
  • Women’s field hockey lost to Charlottetown Rural last night 2-1 in a hard fought battle. The girls will play in a bronze medal game tomorrow in Summerside at 2.
    Men and women’s volleyball defeated Bluefield last night, and our AAA women’s soccer team came back to tie the game with a minute left in semi-final action against Bluefield. The girls won 4-2 in overtime and will play Charlottetown Rural in a semi-final game tomorrow at 5.
  • All students interested in playing Intramural soccer MUST attend a meeting in the gym at 11:40.  If not enough players show to run a league then another sport will be chosen and Intramurals will be started ASAP.
  • Cafeteria specials today are  sweet & sour meatballs & rice $5.25, chicken fingers & fries $5.25 or 3 cheese pizza & fries $5.10.

  • There will be a planned power outage of SAS on Thursday and Friday of this week. Students, parents and staff will not be able to have access to SAS on those days.
  • Any students who may be interested in taking part in a Rotary International Exchange should see Mr. Peterson in Student Services.
  • Reminder that retakes are tomorrow.  All staff is requested to ensure they have had a photo taken.
  • KEY Club meeting today at lunch. Lots on the agenda. See you there.

  • All Grade 11 band students who are applying for the Craft Fair apprentice position please see Mr. Jabbour at 11:40 or anytime today. Grade 10 band practice tomorrow morning at 7:40.
  • All are invited to attend the Haunted Basement at noon or between 7 and 9 at a cost of two dollars for students and four for adults.  The basement will be open today until Wednesday this week. All proceeds go to the
    Free the Children scare for hunger campaign. Be brave and come on down.
  • Power lifting at lunch today in the gym.
  • Students enrolled in Grade 12 and Grade 11 Art should see Ms Bovaird for some useful information about applying to Fine Arts programs.

Haunted Basement October 24th-26th from 7:00 – 9:00PM

The haunted basement is a fun family-friendly event put on by the students of Colonel Gray High School to raise money for the Free the Children charity. This club is currently focusing on fundraising for a local organization through a campaign called “WE Scare Hunger!”. This will help fill local food banks as well as address the issues of hunger and food security within our community.

This doll-themed basement will happen on October 24th – 26th from 7pm – 9pm with the price of only $2 for students and $4 for adults!

  • Reminder that Lifetouch will be here Tuesday, October 25th for those staff and students who missed getting their photos taken in September and for retakes.
  • St. Mary’s University will have a representative and luncheon in Student Services TODAY (Friday) for all interested students and also, a reminder for those who have previously signed up.
  • Queen’s University will have a recruiter visiting  Student Services on Monday, Oct. 24th during lunch.
  • Y’s Men’s Food Drive: If you can help with the food drive please meet in the teachers parking lot on Monday, October 24th between 5:20-5:30…all help would be appreciated.
  • Yesterday, the cross country team swept all four provincial championships for the fourth time in five years, which gives the Colonels 19 out of the last 20 banners.  Everyone ran extremely well, and there were far too many personal bests to mention.  Congratulations to individual provincial champions Emma Germain, Samuel Peterson, Tori Fitzpatrick and Peter McQuaid.  Other medalists were Bridget Keedwell, Thomas McQuaid and Nick Robertson.  Best of luck to all of the other fall sports as you head into playoffs.
  • All students AND teachers interested in joining the game of GOTCHA!! Come to room 238 at lunch! You must be in this meeting if you’re gonna join.

  • There will be a mandatory dress rehearsal for everyone involved in Haunted Basement this today.
  • There will be an extremely important meeting after school Friday for everyone involved in the Haunted Basement. All are expected to attend.
  • Experience the awesomeness of yoga today at lunch at 11:45 in room 101.
  • Anyone interested in some pizza and learning about St Mary’s University has to sign up by noon in student services today.
  • The A boys soccer team finished their regular season last night with a 9-2 win over Kinkora. Sam Peterson led the way with a three goal performance. This puts the boys in first place going into play-offs.
    Women’s field hockey defeated TOSH 5-2 in quarter-final action last night. Our AAA soccer teams traveled to Bluefield where the men lost & the women tied.
    Good luck to all our cross-country athletes heading to provincials at Charlottetown Rural today.
  • Welcoming committee is putting on a game called Gotcha this Monday. If you want to be part of it there will be a meeting on Friday at lunch. For more info check the sign up sheet in the lobby.

  • For any students interested in auditioning for Colonel Gray’s production of The Little Mermaid, The Musical, there will be an information meeting today at 11:50 in the lecture theatre. All are welcome. Please bring your lunch.
  • Announcement: St. Mary’s University will have a representative here on Friday for a lunch and learn session.  If you are a grade 12 student interested in St. Mary’s and like pizza, sign up in Student Services today and tomorrow.
