  • Dodgeball today: The girls tournament will start at lunch today. All teams need to be in the gym for the tournament as it’s double elimination and not a set schedule. Whatever we don’t finish at lunch will carry over into the special activities period at the end of the day.

Teachers today is a supervision day 1.

  • A message for the morning badminton players,  meeting at 11:40 in room 151 to discuss upcoming practices.
  • Could members of the AA Mens’ Basketball see Mr. Toole in room 143 at lunch.
  • Today in dodgeball: Bronze medal: Colt 54’s vs. Jankers   Championship: Ducks vs. Strong Bears
     Tomorrow at lunch and last hour of the day we will be running our mini girls tournament. Players are reminded to bring $10.  Any indoor rugby players need to bring Mrs. Lindsay their registration forms by the beginning of lunch tomorrow. Can Noah Biggley please see Mrs. Lindsay before the end of the day today.
  • Cafeteria is open today but will not be open tomorrow.

  • Could all AA girls basketball team meet in Mrs. Sheppard’s art room today at the beginning of lunch for a brief meeting.
  • The time has come Colonels- Mosiac Christmas potluck is today in room 116.
  • Semi Final Dodgeball: Colt 54’s will play the Ducks     Jankers will play the Strong Bears
     Monday will be our bronze medal game and our championships
     Female dodgeball players are reminded to speak to their team captains about the Girls tournament taking place Tuesday.
     Lauren Clark please see Mrs. Lindsay before the end of the day.
  • Cafeteria Specials today are Chicken Burger Platter $5. 3 Cheese Pizza & fries $4.50, Chili & cheese topped potato $3 or Chicken caesar wrap $4.

9:00 to 10:10  Christmas Band Concert – Presentation to all students. Students meet in their block A class for attendance and transition to the gym for the concert.

10:10 to 10:20 Students please return the chairs to the cafeteria storage, transition to block A

10:20 to 11:07  block A

11:07 to 11:12 Break

11:12 to 12:00  block B

12:00 to 12:50 Noon break

12:50 to 1:55  block C

1:55 to 2:05 Break

2:05 to 3:10  block D

  • CPR training for grade 10 students in block D – 2:05 to 3:10
    • Teachers with designated classes take attendance and then move to the cafeteria with the students.

  • Safe Grad will be selling raffle tickets at lunch in the cafeteria, on a basket full of goodies!  Tickets are $2 each or three for $5!  Draw will take place on Friday, Dec 19th.
  • Don’t forget the Mosiac Christmas Potluck is tomorrow in room 116. See you all there.
  • Leadership is hosting their coffee house today at lunch in the Lecture Theatre! Come on out with your friends and listen to some great music. Admission is only $2 all proceeds going to the food bank so come on out and join us in supporting a great cause!
  • A Med student from Memorial University will be doing a presentation about a career in Medicine in Room 139 during lunch Friday.
  • In dodgeball today: The Ducks will play the Gladiators The Slugs will play the Strong Bears
     Can the captains of all of the girl’s dodgeball teams please meet in the gym at 12:20 tomorrow for an important meeting about IDC. If you are unable to make it please see Mrs. Lindsay.
  • The Music Department annual Christmas concert is this evening in the gym at 7. It will feature our Little Big Band, senior jazz band, Grade 10 and Grade 11&12 concert bands as well as some singers, all are welcome to attend..free admission
  • Cafeteria Specials today are chicken quesadilla Mexican rice and corn $5, hamburger & fries $4.50 or chili & Biscuit $4.

The information below provides a schedule of events and activities that become part of life at Colonel Gray as we approach the Christmas break.  We keep the focus on teaching, learning, and assessment as the break approaches but we have a number of traditional Christmas Spirit activities that add to our sense of community and enjoyment of the season.

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

  • Christmas turkey dinner will be served by students and staff to all students and staff. Food preparation begins early in the morning with potato peeling and extends from any until dinner is served. The official start of the meal is 11:40 AM, but it is expected that some classes will start a little bit early. The noon hour will end at 12:30 PM but flexibility is requested so that students can finish their meal or cleanup.
  • CPR training provided by Island EMS services for all grade 10 students in block D – 1:55 to 3:10
    • Classes will be designated to attend either the first or second session.
    • Teachers with designated classes take attendance and then move to the cafeteria with the students.

Thursday, December 18, 2014

  • Curriculum focus, learning activities and assessments for regular 75 min. periods.
  • 7 PM the students perform their annual Christmas concert for parents and community.

  • Coffee house hosted by leadership is tomorrow at lunch. Admission is only $2.00, all proceeds going to the food bank. So come on out, listen to some great music in the lecture theatre and have a great time.
  • It’s that time again Colonels, the Mosaic Christmas Potluck is this Friday in room 116. So, dust off your aprons and start cooking. Be there or else….
  • Next time you walk by the Peace Garden, take a look at the Environmental Club’s tree! It’s decorated with all natural ornaments! Also, there will not be an Environmental Club meeting today.
  • It’s a Christmas Miracle! Some of the world’s finest baked goods will be offered at Free The Children’s fan-flippin-tastic bake sale! You don’t want to miss out, today at lunch!
  • If you have purchased a ticket for tonight’s winter formal dance you can pick it up in Mrs. Fleming’s office. Tickets will be sold at lunch and after school today for $6.00 or $5.00 with a canned good. That being said, Colonel Gray’s annual winter formal dance is tonight from 8-11 p.m. It’s going to be a great time!
  • Cafeteria Specials today are, 3 Cheese Pizza with fries for $4.50 or Popcorn Chicken bowl for $3.00.

  • Today Tuesday is Happy Holiday Bingo in the Cafeteria. Come join in on the fun and win great prizes.
     Tomorrow Wednesday is Ugly Holiday Sweater Day at The Gray.  Where an ugly sweater and win prizes.  Judging will happen at lunch in the cafeteria.
  • Tomorrow is the big day Gray! Winter Formal is happening tomorrow night 8-11pm. Tickets will be sold until Wednesday at lunch and are $6 or $5 with a canned good. Hope to see you all in the holiday spirit tomorrow.
     Also, students are reminded to bring in can goods for the food drive to their block “C” teachers. Deadline for donations is this Friday.
  • If you would  like to get some info about Medical school,  a Med student will be presenting an information session in Rm 139 at 11.45  on Friday.

  • Senior jazz are reminded to be in class by 12:15 today.
  • In Dodgeball 1/4 finals today: The Knights will face the Colt 54’s     The Jankers will face the Other Guys
     There will be no dodgeball tomorrow because of Christmas dinner, the schedule for the rest of the tournament is posted in the gym.
     Any male or female students aged 15 and up who are interested in playing in an indoor flag rugby league this winter are asked to see Mrs. Lindsay in the Phys Ed area before the end of the week. New players welcome. There will be more information posted in the gym by the end of the day today.
  • Cafeteria Specials today are, Sweet & Sour meatballs on rice with veggies $5, Chicken strip platter $5 or Pepperoni Pizza Slice $3.
